Boston Natto Price Update

  • Starting June 15, 2026, Boston Natto will be $7 per 5 oz container.

  • This change is due to rising costs of rent, electricity, organic soybeans, packaging, and other production expenses.

  • You can still order at the current $6 price before June 15.

Summer Shipping Update: June 15–August 31

  • To protect product quality during hot weather, we will ship natto only with our “Best” shipping option and only to locations with 1–2 day shipping times.

  • All shipped natto will be frozen during this period to help protect it from heat.

  • Fresh, never-frozen natto will still be available at our farmstand in Arlington, MA.

  • Mail-order miso, amazake, and gochujang will be paused online, but may be added by request if you are ordering natto. Please email us after placing your order.

  • Natto keeps well for about 6–7 weeks in the refrigerator, so fresh natto fans may want to stock up before June 15.

  • Freeze-dried natto and natto powder will remain available all summer and are easier to ship in hot weather.

A note about shipping responsibility:  While UPS estimates the normal delivery time, there are definitely cases where they deliver more slowly. Once an order leaves our facility, it is under the care of the shipping carrier.  We have observed that UPS shipments can be delayed during holiday seasons and bad weather events, sometimes can be damaged in shipment, and sometimes they are simply slower than they predict they will be.  For information about delayed packages, please reach out to the carrier with your tracking number.  While our shipments do not come with a shipping performance guarantee, and we cannot be responsible for what happens in shipping, please do let us know if you experience problems in order to assist to learn about the carrier’s performance.  One piece of good news is that natto is actually quite robust.  It will not ‘go bad’ after a day or two at room temperature.  It will simply begin a second fermentation phase, and you may find the taste becomes too strong for your liking.  If you are concerned about this, please note that we now offer three packaging options when you order.  You may wish to consider selecting our “best” packaging which includes many cold packs.  This packaging will keep your natto cold much longer.  It is especially recommended for shipping during hot weather, but also can be helpful if you live in a place that takes longer for UPS to deliver to from our factory.

Thanks again for visiting Aya’s Fermented Foods! We’re delighted to bring you the authentic taste of Japanese fermented foods, with natto at the heart of our offerings.
